Dr. Gillen grew up in the Palm Beach Gardens/North Palm Beach area. He attended The Benjamin School, which led to his introduction to the PGA Animal Clinic. He began working for Dr. Giurato during his junior year of high school and continued to work during breaks while an undergrad at Auburn University in Alabama. Dr. Gillen earned his Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences from Auburn University in 2008. He then attended St. Matthew’s University for veterinary school on Grand Cayman Island, where he completed his first three years. For his fourth and clinical year, he attended Purdue University in Indiana. After graduating in 2012, he began working for Dr. Giurato as an associate veterinarian at PGA Animal Clinic. In April 2014, Dr. Gillen purchased the practice. Dr. Gillen has a Golden Retriever, Mahi, and a terrier mix, Sunshine, as well as rabbits and various reptiles.

Dr. Bickel earned her DVM degree in 2018 from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Throughout her studies and veterinary career, she has gained experience in a wide variety of fields, including small animal, large animal, emergency medicine, and zoo/exotic medicine. She cherishes the opportunity to work as part of a solid team to provide exceptional care for both her patients and her clients and reach a common goal of going above and beyond for both pets and people. Dr. Bickel owns PGA Animal Clinic along with her husband, Dr. Gillen. They have a daughter, Lucia, who is as big of an animal lover as her parents, as well as an extensive menagerie that includes dogs Sunshine and Arlo, cat Tigerlily, horses Dori and Turtle, and a sizeable collection of snakes, geckos, turtles, and tortoises. When she’s not at the clinic, you can find Dr. Bickel either in the barn with her beloved horses or spending time in the yard with her family.

Dr. Vanessa Adams is a native of New Jersey who moved to Florida in 2010. Having completed a BS in animal science from Cornell University and then obtaining a veterinary degree from Tufts University, she felt it was time to kiss winter goodbye permanently! After training for a year at BluePearl Tampa in a rotating internship, she joined Palm Beach Veterinary Specialists as an emergency/critical care doctor. After seven years of garnering invaluable experience, she is excited to pursue primary care again. Dr. Adams has special interests in feline medicine, pain management, diagnostic imaging, and internal medicine. She has two orange tabby cats, and in her spare time, she enjoys riding and showing horses, local events/festivals, and trivia nights.

Dan Ross, DVM
Dan Ross, DVM
Dan Ross was born and raised in South Florida, where he attended Suncoast High School and graduated with an International Baccalaureate diploma. Dan traveled west to the University of Colorado for his undergraduate degree in Evolutionary Biology and Ecology. He earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Ross University, completing his clinical training at the University of Florida School of Veterinary Medicine. Following school, Dan pursued further specialty medical training, completing a clinical internship in Emergency/Critical Care and Surgery at Palm Beach Veterinary Specialists. His interests include preventative care, trauma management, and geriatric medicine. In his free time, Dan enjoys fishing, scuba diving, snowboarding, reading, and spending time with his rescue dog, Lana.
